NYBA PROGRAMS
Grades 1–2 Clinic
Build the basics, grow confidence and learn to be a teammate.
Learning through practice
The clinic gives first- and second-grade players an introduction to basketball fundamentals in an instructional setting. It continues the early learning pathway before recreation league play in grades 3–8.
Skills that grow with your child
- Ball handling and dribbling with control.
- Passing, catching and basic shooting technique.
- Moving on the court and understanding the game.
- Listening to instruction, sharing the ball and supporting teammates.
Progress over pressure
The goal is for children to learn and enjoy basketball in a positive environment. Encourage effort, patience and teamwork as players gain confidence and develop at their own pace.
For families
Review the grade eligibility and session information in the registration listing. Follow the program’s arrival and pickup instructions, respect facility rules and let instructors lead the activities.
Safe and supportive
NYBA requires coaches and volunteers to complete its approval and screening process. The Code of Conduct applies to players, families and guests throughout NYBA activities.
