A. MIDGET LEAGUES (Grades 2-3)
1. Playing Rules
- Man-to-man defense is mandatory
- No score is kept in the Midget League
- 3-on-3 format will be used for the first half of the season. For the second half of the season the games will be full-court, five on five.
- Games will consist of six 6-minute periods.
- The baskets will be set at 8 feet 6 inches.
- The foul-line will be set at twelve (12) feet.
- The ten second rule will be used. (any player controlling the ball for an extended period will be made to throw the ball in from out of bounds).
- During the 3-on-3 sessions:
· A defensive rebound must be brought back behind the foul-line.
· A throw-in after a basket cannot be stolen.
· A throw-in after a basket cannot be passed below the foul-line extended.
- For the first two games:
· Referees will instruct the players when they call a violation and return the ball to the same team.
- Coaches must follow league rules in regard to game format.
2. Playing Time Rule
- All players must play an equal amount (within a period of all other players).
- When replacing an injured player the coach must select a player of near equal ability to the player that is being replaced.
- Players who arrive late must play at least one-half the time remaining in the game.
3. Player Conduct Rules
- Players are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times
- All parents must sign the NYBA Code of Conduct
