A. SENIOR LEAGUES (Grades 9-12)
1. All games will be played according to standard high school basketball rules.
2. Players will receive equal playing time within one-half quarter of each other.
3. Any eligible player may play in an overtime period.
4. At the beginning of the last quarter the scorer will notify the team captains of
players who are at risk of lest than minimum playing time. These players must
play until they are caught up.
5. When replacing an injured player, or one who has fouled out or been ejected, the captains are to substitute a player of equal or near equal size and ability.
6. Each team will be entitled to four (4) twenty second timeouts per game with a maximum of two (2) in any half.
7. Games will consist of four (4) 10-minute periods of running time, with clock stopping as close to 5 minutes as possible, preferably on a dead ball, for substitution. Stop time will be played for the final two minutes of the game
8. There is no overtime in the Senior League except for the playoffs
9. Anytime that a team is ahead by more than 15 points there will be no pressing over half court until such time as that the lead falls below 10 points.
10. The season will consist of 10 regular season games (season will be shortened if we get cancelled out for weather too many times). All teams will participate in the single-elimination playoffs that will follow the regular season games.
11. Player conduct must be sportsmanlike at all times during the games. This is
required to ensure the safety of the players and to preserve the integrity of the
league. Players who engage in unsportsmanlike conduct will be subject to a
technical foul or ejection from the game. In extreme cases the league director will
make the final decision as to whether and how a player will be disciplined. All players
and parents must sign the NYBA Code of Conduct.
Intentional Foul Foul is charged to offending player. Player fouled is awarded two
free throws and his team awarded possession of ball at the spot of the foul.
Flagrant Foul Immediate ejection of offending player. Player fouled awarded
two free throws and his team awarded possession of ball.
Repeated flagrant fouls may result in player being suspended
or expelled from the League.
Foul Language Will not be tolerated. Foul language is a technical foul.
Flagrant Technical Foul
Immediate ejection from game and player will be suspended from
next game
12. Any player not participating in game but on a team’s roster must
be seated on team bench while team is playing game.
13. Senior League players who have been ejected from a game will also be suspended for the team’s next game.
