Dear League Directors and Coaches,
This year Newtown Youth Basketball Association is joining with other Newtown Sports organizations; Football, Soccer, Baseball and Lacrosse, to sponsor the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) training program for all our head coaches. This program is nationally recognized as a very worthwhile and positive initiative to help youth sport coaches maintain a positive environment and ensure our young athletes are getting the most out of their experience.
Whether you are new to coaching basketball, or have been a coach for a number of years, we believe this is a very relevant program for all of us and the workshop represents an excellent investment in terms of both time and money. That's why we have decided to cover the costs of the PCA course. This is an important initiative and those individuals wishing to coach this year, both in-house and travel, will be expected to attend one of the three PCA workshops being offered this fall. The dates are Monday Sept. 13, Monday Sept. 27, and Monday Oct. 4. The space for each workshop is limited so please sign up early. The location of the first workshop is still being finalized, but the workshops on Sept 27 and Oct 4th will be held at the Reed school. The workshops will run from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
